Welcome to the Western Central Berks Fire District Zone 4 website! 

WHO WE ARE:

Berks County is a community of approximately 410,000 residents over 860 square miles in southeastern Pennsylvania, about 56 miles NW of Philadelphia. 

Geographic Area

From a fire service perspective, the county is geographically divided into several zones.  Zone 4 occupies the western and central portion of the county from the Schuylkill River to the Lancaster County line, and consists of the following fire department (with Berks County Company numbers shown):

  • Western Berks FD  (Co 18)
  • Keystone Fire Co of Shillington  (Co. 36)
  • Cumru Twp FD    (Co. 42)
  • Wernersville State Hospital Fire Brigade   (Co. 48)
  • Greenfields Fire Co.  (Co.55)
  • Friendship Fire Co. of Mohnton   (Co. 57)
  • West Reading Fire Co.   (Co.64)
  • Kenhorst Fire Co     (Co. 69)
  • Brecknock Twp Fire Co.   (Co.72)
  • Wyomissing Boro FD   (Co. 79)
  • Township of Spring Fire Rescue    (Co.85)

Recently, the roster has been expanded to include:

  • Berks Search and Rescue  (Co. 2)
  • Reading Airport ARFF   (Co.76)

These organizations protect the following municipalities:

Wyomissing, Sinking Spring, Shillington, Wernersville, Kenhorst and Mohnton Boroughs

Spring, Cumru, Bern, Brecknock, South Heidelberg, and Lower Heidelberg Townships
